Nino Cioffi, hailing from Sorrento, Italy, is a 3rd generation gelato maker and owner of Costa Sorrento & Dolce Sorrento. His family has been in the restaurant and gelato business since the 1980s, owning and operating Bougainvillea Gelateria, one of the most famous and well established gelato shops on the Amalfi Coast, in Sorrento.

Over 15 years ago, Nino embarked on a specific mission: to bring his family’s recipes and Amalfi Coast inspired cuisine to Toronto, Ontario. After owning and operating 2 upper scale dining restaurants in Maple and Toronto, Nino and his partner Domi Cioffi looked to expand their horizons. 

In October 2018, as Downtown Markham began to develop, Nino and Domi saw the perfect opportunity, and opened Costa Sorrento with a singular goal - to be an inviting, family-style restaurant, offering excellent hospitality with a splash of Italian fine dining.

From the restaurant’s authentic, Amalfi Coast cuisine, to its homemade desserts and gelato, Nino and Domi wanted Costa Sorrento to be a testament to the Cioffi family’s recipes and traditions - inviting every customer to experience the rich culinary heritage of South-Western Italy during every visit, while being taken care of like they are family.

Through home-style, family recipes, each dish is crafted with a touch of love and a sprinkle of tradition, embodying the essence of generations past.
